2017 Founders’ Day Breakfast

“Life Liberty and Happiness”

The 41st Annual Founders’ Day Breakfast

At the 41st Founders’ Day Breakfast we celebrated Thomas Jefferson and the idea that we are all endowed by the creator with the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We heard opening remarks from Mr. Benjamin Cramer, Mr. Winston Elliott III, and Mr. Gleaves Whitney.

After the opening remarks, we were surprised by an appearance from President Thomas Jefferson, who gave the keynote address! President Jefferson reminded us that the principles expounded in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were not invented by him or others, but were self-evident truths which had been described long before the formation of the American Congress. He went on to talk about some of the issues that he faced during his presidency, including making the Louisiana Purchase.
